My pond fish, goldfish, get no food most of the summer. They do fine. There is a lot of food in the ponds for them.

The filters take care of the water, no water changes needed.

Like addy, my pond and fish take care of themselves for the most part. I do feed them when I am around, but when I am on vacation, the fish are left to their own devices.

Now my fish tanks in the house are a different story.

Ditto. My pond is on its own. The fish have plenty of stuff to graze on. For long-term absences (which for me is no more than a week at a time), I make sure my filters are clean and that everything (pumps, etc.) is working properly, that the pond has adequate water, that there are no obvious leaks, and that all connections are securely fastened. For a smaller pond, you might want to ask a trusted friend or neighbor to add water (as well as a dechlorinator), or set up a self-watering system — but with you in Hawaii, you might have enough rainfall to keep your pond filled.

I might be more worried about who will feed on them if you don't have a net covering the pond. For guppies you could buy some vacation feed cubes that the fish can nibble on. Not sure on how much water you will get from rain there but they do make auto fillers that attach to a hose but if you have chlorine/chloramine then someone will have to add it while the water is running into the pond.

I don't feed my goldfish at all, ever. I have a pretty natural type pond and there is plenty for them to eat. I do not do water changes either. My pond pretty much takes care of itself except in the fall when I have to be on leaf patrol and have to remove dead plant foliage before winter.
