Green water

hi there all
can anyone one help please I built a raised pond last year and had no problem with it this year now the warm weather has started I am now getting green water what can I do to make this all clear again I have a brand new filter and pump with uv in it.
I have not lost any fish or anything but don't like the green water what can I do thanks.

Hi Paul. Welcome! Green water just means your algae is working overtime to get rid of too many nutrients that would be harmful to your fish if left unchecked. If you have a biological filter once it has enough beneficial bacteria growing in it the algae will go away because their work is done. The last thing you want to do is throw in chemicals to get rid of it. If you are feeding your fish you can cut down or stop until the algae goes away. Food and waste just makes the algae worse.
