Some use those water scarecrows but they only work in non-freezing weather and when they do work you will be getting wet too when you forget they are set up and are all dressed up in your nicest clothes to go out for dinner :arghh:

So far the heron hasn't come back… a lot of folks say they'll come back to finish clearing out the pond, so hope this is doing the trick

They gave the bird a nice landing platform, with that tarp. I had a floating island full of plants, removed just because of the bird landing on it.
