Home made skimmer?

You were very lucky to be in AZ for this winter as it was one of the coldest and the most lingering that I can remember out here.
I had actually thought about cinder block and as you say I could then make it to any dimension that I need. For this skimmer I use a very large sewage pump to supply one of my waterfalls so it has to be sturdy and big. Over the winter, the rocks that rim the perimeter of the pond as well as surrounding earth migrated into the skimmer and crushed it a bit [see pictures] . I'm going to have to remove all the existing plumbing, dig the hole bigger,extend the liner and then build my new skimmer. If I'm going to use block or poured concrete, I might double up the liner just to be safe. I'll keep you posted as we proceed and thanks again for your detailed reply.
