Here's a thought. Can your microbial cloud contaminate your pond water when you perform maintenance tasks?

I'm going to say no.
However, if you have on skin cream, sunscreen or use soap that contains phosphorus and other chemicals, adding those to the pond is not helpful.

Sometimes you could cut the microbial fog with a knife in my teenage son's bedroom, I'm always telling him to open his bedroom door and window to allow a cross breeze help clear it out.
