Yes they can, they can also eat mealy worm, garden worm. smooth skined caterpillars (not the hairy ones as they are normally poisonous nor the highly colourful smooth skins, again they are poisomous ), pill bugs or woodlice are good eating too however you must only feed these as a snack and do not feed them to your koi all the time
Iv'e done one or two threads about alternate foods for our koi and goldfish :-

https://www.gardenpondforum.com/threads/organic-compost-heap-a-free-source-of-food.10513/

and thiuis one about other types of food :-

https://www.gardenpondforum.com/threads/a-look-at-alternate-foods-for-your-koi-and-goldfish.10500/

I've just started a new thread with the updated version of the tread above :-

https://www.gardenpondforum.com/threads/updated-alternate-food-for-koi-and-goldfish.14217/

It has vitamins protiens etc added

I really hope these suggestions all tried and tested over 27 years really help you willo as it has done for others, we really looked into the subject put ourselves in the place of koi and tried to think like one

My large koi ate a small garter snake and another time ate a skink.
