I was thinking about geting. Only a Koi pond with rocks only the top foot of the.pond and rest the liner. But I was wondering how the the liner will look after.a.while? Does it turn green? I like how the rocks.look even with a little algae but I don't want it to be bad for the.Koi, and I've seen some liners and they seem to turn green after a while and I don't like the.folds you see in there? What would you recoment and any pictures.would be.helpfully. :)

And is there a way to prevent/hide the folds in the liner. Its going to be about.a.3500 to 4000 gallon pond with a 4" bottom drain.

Careful pulling and laying will keep a lot of folds out, but there will always be some.

Yeah would be cool if we could shrink to fit our liners w/ a big heat gun but that's not gonna happen..........you will have folds and you will have algae on your liner and that's how you want it as flat short algae is good for the pond and the fish and hides the liner somewhat, makes it look more natural :)

I use large flat river rocks on the shelves to hold down the folds in the liner. The minnows seem to really like that, as it turns the folds into small caves for them.

The algae doesn't take long to form on the liner. It feels kind of slimy, but it has a kind of brownish color to it, makes it look more like a natural mud bottom. After a few weeks of growth, you won't even notice the wrinkles in the liner, it just all blends in together.

I tried to get a picture for you, but the sun is at a bad angle right now. This is the best I could do...

In your first illustration there is a angled line above the cement, Not sure what or why that is there, Go down to the one that has the BD in it and that is perfect, IMO! Will look really nice and VERY functionable when done.

Haha nor would I recommend having rocks all the way to the bottom of your pond! What you're seeing in my picture is simply the build-up of rocks on my plant shelf where I have some irises planted. The drop-off to the left leads to the actual bottom off-camera.

The slanted line is the ground level, my back yard has a downward slope, that's why I am building the wooden frame. The frame is done but I didn't think while building it so the pond size will be 11' x 6' x 5-6'. Ill post pictures when my phone charges, on my original post. I will erase this one because I don't wanna have too many posts on this site to annoy people lol

Post away denis, it won't annoy us! Best to keep all your ?? and photos in one post, makes it easier to follow what is going on is all. Start a new thread for a totally different problem, like sick fish.
