Hi All:
Thrilled (and thankful) to have found this community! I've been muddling my way through building and (finally completing) two lovely patio ponds.
I had one about 10 years ago when I was living in NYC and had all the "gear". This time I decided to build an self-reliant "ecosystem" and it seems to be working. I don't have any filters or pumps. Just lots of oxygenating plants, some gorgeous lilies, mint and papyrus grass, a few fish and some trapdoor snails to control the snails. After the initial "green" phase I now have lovely crystal clear water and happy healthy plants and fish.
The second pond is smaller and just has water clover, papyrus grass and a nyphoides. Still waiting for this pond to 'adjust' and will add a 2 fish in a few weeks.
I'm an avid gardener and love working with plants on land and in the water!
I'll post pictures of my garden soon.
Thanks for having me! I look forward to learn and sharing with you all.
All the best!
Michelle
