Nature manages to keep the fish population in balance. It seems that I always have right around 20 fish. Last year, I lost 5 to predators, spawning attack, and a mystery death. I was outside gazing down into the pond today and counted 6 babies! Not teeny ones - but about 1" long. Two are yellow/orange and the other four are black and swim around in a little group. Back up to 20!

I forgot if you have koi or goldfish. We had a feathered “visitor“ during the winter. I think it got a few goldfish, but Mother Nature stepped in for me as well — She helped all my little fishies hide and stay safe, despite repeated “visits.”

TurtleMommy, I have good ol' goldfish. No koi. My pond is an eco-pond style set up with decent filtration but not quite enough space or filtration for koi. I'm glad your fish have been safe!
