My first carved with a router sign

I am going to build my parents kitchen cabinet doors and will put some bear design like this on 2 of them, no words obviously. I did this with a router free hand. I burnt the cut outs with a torch then sanded.

I want to get a sign making kit for my router and was looking at a digital C and C machine that makes all kinds of designs .My neighbor has one and it is fantastic .

CNC machines are awesome. However I really like the freehand work myself when doing little projects like this. I get to understand tools better and learn different techniques along the way.

That's awesome! I was trying to do something similar for a Boy Scout project, but was just playing around with the Dremel and didn't get anything CLOSE to that nice! I wonder if I used a router bit on the Dremel.....would that make a difference? Also, what kind of wood is that?

My neighbor has one and did all his baseboards and crown molding and it looks great
