I'm going by several books (Remember those?) that show the same leaves and flower heads as your pictures, identified as Lobelia cardinalis. Sorry, but I can't post the pics.

So, guessing that somewhere along the way I ordered the same plant, but different varieties of it.... Weird! 'cause, side-by-side the plants aren't similar, though the flowers are. I've always heard that the best way to ID a plant is by its flower, so this seems to hold true to that.

Thanks to all! As soon as this pokey little [well, not so little] flower blooms all the way, I'll post pix of it. And when the other one [the one I know of as being Cardinal] blooms, I'll post those, as well. It's gotten off to a slow start.
