They don't do well for me, hyacinths. Took all summer to cover even a 3x3 area hardly bloomed. Darn things, full hot sun too. So I let made more lily pots, they are doing a great job on the water. Well the bog too full of plants lol.

Sure start a thread in the construction area, on your build, people will follow along.

Our hyacinths are in sad shape, but figure it has been the blazing sun. Moved some over to the bog (gets a little shade) and they are looking better. Even if they dont bloom, we really need the shade they provide over the fish area, although we just got two new plants... braincramp, cant think of the name... creeping something LOL. They are supposed to be super invasive, which in our case, is a good thing;-)

You could do like pecan did, piece of 1 inch styrofoam as big as you wish, cut holes in it.

Put plants (land or water plants will work ) in pea gravel/ kitty litter clay in pots, put the pots in the holes cut in the styrofoam. Plant island, and shade for the fish.
