Water lettuce

Hello all, I moved 2 years ago and have just installed a small pond in my garden. It is fairly well planted with oxygenators and bog plants in baskets which all seem to be doing OK. Water is clear with 5 small goldies. My water lettuce roots are floating, I have never seen this before in my previous ponds. Is this due to the warmer than usual summer this year or something else?
Any info gratefully received.
