Hi all, the canal and aqueduct are at their most colorful during the winter. Of course a little snow and ice would look nice but this has been a mild winter with global warming or whatever
So the plants surrounding the waterways are in their glory
The sedums you see, are normally reddish and yellow, but mild temps have left them green
the coteneaster berries and leaves are brilliant red
the fall leaves are still nicely colored in the waterway, providing insulation, along with the mud for the hibernating bullfrogs
And you will notice I've been putting in many hours rock-facing the aqueduct and the outside is complete, at least visible portion, and the inside area is next. Been able to do mortaring as the temps have been above freezing
Eventually the drab green of summer will return but for now, enjoying the peak color
