Babies everywhere

New member here(tom)---I have had my Koi pond for about 5 months now and discovered babies everywhere---do I want them NO--do I need them--NO---

Best way to catch these little slick critters--tried tricking them with koi food then netting them--tried underwater trap---got about half out 30---any suggestions.

from friends, I have heard the only way to get them out is to partially drain the pond so they are easier to catch. I can't net any of my fish those suckers are fast, you have maybe one chance.

welcome to the forum Tom....your an unusual poster; most are excited about the spawn, and fry (babies). wait til spring and catch 'em and sell 'em on craigslist....30 @ $4.00 - $5.00 a pop will pay for a chunk of your ponding supplies. i just got a call 1/2 hour ago from one of my customers from this spring making sure i'll have some available next spring and/or if he could come this fall when i move them to the basement pond! (wants first picks i guess)...they'll likely be easier to see and catch in the spring as well.

tmann that kid is the bomb! Good way to catch those little buggers. Somebody out there would really like to have those babies for their own pond Tom.

I used that method to catch over a thousand mosquito fish about 5 years go. The coke bottle idea is a great and easy build.

Hi Tom, Welcome. You must be doing something right if your fish had babies already.
