Backup pond?

Does this pool look like it would be good to use as a backup pond or quarantine tank? I am getting ready to build an in-ground pond, and it seems like it is a good idea to have a secondary place to put the fish if I ever get a pond leak, or to move them for pond cleaning, or to use as a quarantine tank. Of course I would use my own filter system, not the one provided with the pool. For the price (looking at 12x30), it looks like a good backup. Let me know your thoughts...

Thanks for the help!

Wow, It says at 90% capacity it holds 1,718 gallons of water. That's a pretty big quarantine or back up tank. I wouldn't think you would need one that large but I suppose it depends on what type of fish you have and how many you have.

I personally use Rubbermaid stock tanks as my quarantine tanks. But I know some others on the forum use kiddy swimming pools. They give the fish lots of swimming room and don't cost a ton.

Lots of people use those pools and say they work great. Personally, I use a 300 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank, as well, for my QT. I just don't have room for something that big [and we don't have basements here, which is where a lot of folks set their QT's up].

You are correct to be thinking ahead on this, though. I have a DIY trickle tower set up with mine and it works great at keeping the water quality good. And I keep a few goldfish in there all the time, to keep the biomedia active.

I'd say it depends on the fish you intend to keep. I use a 150 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank, a 25 gallon tote, and a 22 gallon half whisky barrel thing as QT tanks.
