Biomechanical IBC filtration system

Referring to my earlier post thread, I am very curious about the experiences of pondkeepers with open or closed IBC filter systems, and the use of glacial substrate (or any other filter medium), in order to improve filtration performance if necessary.

I don’t use IBC containers, but do use stock tanks at least on one of my ponds. However, I just stick with bogs and plants, as the main form of filtering or nutrient control in my ponds, and gravel in the bogs to increase SSA for nitrifying bacteria to colonize. Usually, try to stick with the KISS method, which has worked for me for roughly 30 years of pond keeping.
