Birch wood ok for Koi?

Hello,
I want to put a piece of birch wood in my pond as a place for my turtle to rest. Does anyone know if this would be toxic to my fish?

birch is low tannin and won't be a problem. im not sure if there is a wood that is toxic to fish. there are several plants that are listed to avoid. that list usually generates lots of debate on its authenticity and real impact.
