addy if i put my waterfall on a very slight pitch / slope can i form a bog or bogs in the well cut outs ( the basins in the waterfall drop ? )

you mean on the way down i.e. as the water falls down one level to the next have mini bogs? You could, it would not filter as well as a bog with up flow, but it would still filter. You may need to clean the top layer of gravel now and then. Hope that is what you mean
My stream ponds and the stream it self have mini bogs in the forms of planters with pea gravel and plants, some areas just with gravel and plants in the stream bed. I am constantly changing it lol
