Pond seems to have come through the storm fine, but not so the neighbor's huge tree, which crashed onto their deck:( I'm sorry you've found another victim .
At least all three are still alive Tula thats whats important weve taken the step in buying in a specialist feed additive that will at least be a boost to their iimmune system :-

As well as doing that you'll see the other benefits of it on bboth them and the rest of our koi .

Reading through the ingredient list, your koi will certainly be getting their fruits and vegetables :) My pond water is slowly clearing, I hope from the new shower filter. I also ordered a stronger UV and it'll arrive next week .

Yes they will what strength U/V-C do you have on the pond at the moment because its not all down to the UV its also down to your pond where its sigted the shade if any you have over the pond and maturity of the pond etc.
Tetra do a 9 Watt one that will clear a 1,000 gallon pond or so they say , but weve gone for overkill in that ours is 36 w our pond being in direct sunlight during the summer for the best part of the Morning and all of the Afternoon .

When did you add the treatment for green water? I know you said it is all natural but that doesn't necessarily equal safe. Kinda like vitamins, some can be dangerous to certain people while totally safe in another.
True Maria however I checked with the company who after I put my Fears to them took me through the issues and basically we had done nothing out of the ordunary with the treatment and had covered all the bases prior to the treatment being used on them
\before we started we added extra alot of extra air into the pond and it was more than enough.
We delivered the treatment after weighing each cap full to exactly 9g v 10 mixed in a watering can and allowed to stanf gor one hour before covering the ponds surface completely as per instructions .
We visually veiwed the koi when feeding a reduced diet for any signs of stress and saw non .
The fish at the end of the treatment where viewed for any signs of stess and we saw non
All the koi had a deeper Lustre to their skin especially the Hi or Red areas and the white looked a deeper white .
All of the fish where observed throughout non of them where seem to have a kink in them .
The strike mosy probably hit the ground a few miles away and for some reason made it to our pond it would have been over in an instant and these three koi were just unlucky tp be in the line of fire as the strike hit .
The muscles reacted to the shock which has the effect of locking that muscle up and kinks the spine.
We got lucky again because someti,es a sreike can break a koi's back , some have a more pronounced kink others dont and go back to approx 95% or near normal.

I currently have a 9 watt UV light in my pressurized filter. I bought a 26 watt Savio UV, that slips directly into my Savio skimmer...it hasn't arrived yet. My skimmer can accept two of these lights, but I'm starting with one. Hoping for good results :)

A quick update on all three koi even with the obvious kinks in two koi all three are doing very well indeed , they are no longer on the danger list all three ar enjoying their food and despite the kinks are swimming about the pond well using all areas and levels of the water colomn.
Infact they have bcome somewhat a talking point since their shocking experiance with everone at the last meeting talking about it before more bad news from another member overshadowed our own [cant as of yet do a story about that as its still early days as of yet and results are preliminary] :(
However when I do it will make us koi keepers and ponders with a mix of koi/goldfish both sit up and think long and hard about certain aspects of our hobby including QT.Stess etc. :(
I also need the permission of that person to print his story...

Uodate on the three fish hit by lightening
Well the three koi dont seem to have been in any way disabled by their run in with the lightening [yes they have the kinks and all] but in the free-for-all we call feeding time they arent held back by it .
Now to interpret that another way is this , if they are just as fast as the rest hitting the surface , then as such that bodes very well indeed that in the event of a preditor they will be just as fast as every other fish in hitting the depths.
