Dirty, Muddy Pond Cleanup Question-Quilt Batting Pump

So... here's the latest on my no-so-muddy-now pond. The quilt batting has worked great and the pond is clear as long as I continue filtration, clean the batting, etc.

Pond is as clear as ever this morning, and wouldn't you know it's the day the builder shows up to discuss his recommendations are to deal with the problem. He says to wait a little longer and that it will still clear on it's own. He says the dirt will settle into the pockets it finds in the lining and rocks and will not longer cloud the pond after that point. Me? I'm not so convinced. What do you guys think? Does dirt "settle" and stop being a problem over time?
