wow I love that and gosh would like to have that in my yard .I don't see any mortar .I may use your pic to see if i can have that done the nursery down the road put all there pallets of rock on sale at 45 % off .I have lava rock in my filters and the hose drains down and then comes back up to the adapter through a pipe .I put plants in and it really cleans the water .I have a ball valve on the bottom to clean the tank but found when I turned it on nothing but clean water came out and that is after all summer .This is the first year I put plants in it .So went out and bought an oval tank to replace the round one plus it is bigger so can put more plants in it .

wondered as I sure saw no mortar .They are both 30 gallons and the new oval one is 50 gallons (or was it 60 gallons I have to look )and the square one with the wall around it will stay for now

built my little house on the lake there ,it is a copy of my house .I can now say it is my lake house no matter how small it is

I just used the garden center lava rock and they are red and soaked them in peroxide and water for a month before I put them in and in the top basket that is just quilt batting and a reusable furnace filter .I also had a friend in Hawaii that sent me some and brought some real lava rock which is black and has lots of rough surface to hold gunk .

I had that set up but change it out for what I have now as it does not seem to work that great .I don't no why but gave up on it as all it did was dump the dirt right back in the pond
