Hey guys been dealing with string algae the last couple years. I posted in this forum last year about my struggles, and everyone recommended I add a bog filter to the setup. So now my setup is a 4” bottom drain that gravity feeds a Cetus sieve, and from there the water is pumped up and T’d half to Bakki shower, and half to the bog. The pond is 2500 gallons, and the bog is a 300 gallon stock tank. I’m going to dose nualgi beneficial bacterial to help seed the bog to help outcompete the algae. I’m currently dosing barley straw extract to help keep the algae down as much as possible. My question is should I stop dosing the barley extract as soon as I dose the nualgi? Or should I keep going with the barley extract while dosing the bacteria? Also any other advice is appreciated to help beat the string algae that has been a tough battle. Plants will be added to the bog this weekend along with floating plants to help absorb nutrients, and provide shade.
