Floating Islands & Turtles???

I purchased a small "Floating Island" for my 6x4x3 pond. What would be the best aquatic plants for the island? In addition, I presently have no fish in the pond, and was thinking of introducing (3 or 4) baby red ear sliders. I will have a Laguna Pressure Flo 700 Filter and a Laguna Power Jet 400 Pump. Any turtle pond peeps on the forum? Would love some reccomendations for a turtle pond as well..

I'm not an expert, but that may be too many turtles for that size of a pond. Turtles are really, really messy.
