I always get migrant frogs in my pond that die over the winter. Even this last one when I left some of the fish out with a deicer, the fish were fine but not the frogs. I always thought they might be less tolerant of oxygen deprivation or perhaps it is where in the pond they overwinter.

The frogs from 2 years ago use to lay spawn and everything was fine then go into tadpoles now 2 winters one in 2023 found 2 dead frogs and 2024 4 frogs it was 3 females and one male and one fish.something not right I checked the water,I have even put plants in the water to help more ,so i think it might be where some dead foliage entering pond or maybe something getting into water,or reading about frogs it said the way to help frogs is dig into earth 30cms so they can keep warm and moist,I do have compost and lots of wood etc in a wild garden, maybe its to do with this climate change,I even thought they drowned or escaping from a predator because I do hear frogs, then nothing, sometimes we get a heron in the garden. The fish still havent come up for food because here in the UK its still not spring like or warm as it use to be.

Climate change. Not hardly. Frogs die all the time. Who knows why? If they didn't we'd be hip deep in frogs over the entirety of the planet in a week's time.

There is a reason that PREY generally give birth to 10's of thousands of eggs or multiply more frequently, generally. While Predator's are half a dozen at a time OR LESS. fish and frogs fall into the prey or food aspect in life. its not cruel its life

I know frogs will die but also some horrible countrys breed them to eat,but I do not like the thought of frogs or anything dying unnaturally,

and you should be, as they allowed others to go on. They usually have a very short lifespan as well.

No one said life did not have it's way of being cruel. I do not live on plants alone. I try not to be wasteful. My beef fish and poultry will always be part of my diet.

We breed chickens, cows, pigs, sheep... all to eat. Are we horrible? I've eaten frog legs - they're delicious. Some countries eat guinea pigs - I hear it tastes like chicken. People cry about deer being hunted for food. But those who understand the circle of life know that everything needs a predator. The alternative is the size of the herd out grows the availability of food and they start to die truly "horrible deaths" of starvation and disease. Who's got the bigger heart now - the people who think it's cruel to hunt and kill them? Or the ones who know the importance of thinning the herd?

And you're assuming these frogs died "unnaturally" - why would you assume that? If you truly love nature you love her in all her moods - and sometimes she appears downright cruel. But what you're really seeing is the true beauty of nature as she keeps everything in balance. Those dead frogs become the very thing that another creature needs to survive - balance.

Don't be nutty.
