Hi im Andy, 24 from wigan recently bought a preformed pond 1800x1400x900 . its being placed on the pation leaning onto the garage in the process of building around the pond with rough lime brick and block. Im now upto the stage where i need learn more about pumps and filters , i no the very basic how they work ish and uv helps keep alge free etc . I was hoping some could fill me in on the size of pump/fileter i need be looking at and how much i should expect spend . Would like keep cost down as got a baby on the way

The diy section has a lot of good ideas for building your own filter, they work well and can be inexpensive to build
Figure out the volume of your pond, liters, gallons. You want to buy a pump that will turn over your pond every hour to hour and 1/2. So you would need that many gallons per hours or liters per hour.
