How to donate pond fish.

My elderly mom can no longer take care of her small garden pond.
I got tasked with trying to find a home for them. I am not sure where to start.
Also I don't live in the area.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I do not live in the area so I am having someone check to see if the fish are still there.
They were last year. In any case can fish be shipped?

yes fish can be shipped, but whether its worth it or not depends on the type and quality of the fish. but just know releasing them in a local pond is probably illegal

Join nextdoor.com for your neighborhood. I bet there are pond owners around you that will see your post on there and be happy to have your koi. Just make sure they have a big enough pond for them. https://nextdoor.com

Also, check to see if there are any local pond groups that might be able to help. This is a stretch, but check with veterinarians, home improvement stores……. Sometimes there are people who know people who know people…….who can help.
