My Hardiness Zone & Your Hardiness Zone?

According to the average Average annual minimum temp scale that is currently posted I should be in zone 9 not zone 8. We rarely (and I mean rarely) ever get temps down in the 10 to 20 degree F range. Once or twice a year we might get temps down into the teens in the Tacoma/Seattle area of Washington state.

Maybe this zone scale is based on record temps from fifty years ago.

I do not live in the mountains, no. I live just outside of Charlotte, NC.

Again, there are several measurements for a zone, and I' sticking with the USDA version.

The only thing I can think of is that your scale doesn't account for wind chill, perhaps? Dunno.

No offense of course, just friendly conversation here.:frown:

I'm claiming to a soild zone 7. some charts is A and some B but I have so many trees and the fences that the wind dosnt whip up too bad. CHesapeake got all of some 'slush' twice last year i believe...
