My home made pump cage

hey all. this is my DIY pump cage i went to the dollar store
and i got to baskets and i cut the top off of one and this is what i made
i just have to drill holes in the sides thanks to koiguy 1969 for helping me.
should i put this in a mess bag or just put it in the pond like it is

Hmmm... I've never seen a pump cage with holes that big. Usually folks use colanders strapped together. I would think that would still let decent sized debris in--but ya never know. I'll be interested in hearing how it works out.

the holes are not that big .they look big because i zoomed in with the camera..
koikeepr thank u for the tip when i drill the holes on the sides i will make them smaller.and the holes u see a penny cant even get in :)
