that's why I'm asking. I have an old pool deck made of concrete and would like to ring one side of it with a short wall like yours. It won't be for seating, but I can picture the kids sitting/walking on it...so I have to account for that.

But I have no means (and don't want to), drill down for rebar or such support. I'm looking for a short wall because my property is on an incline and i'm forever getting dirt on my pool deck. I figured a short wall would stop it. I figured something like your wall, of just two courses high of cinder would not need any support inside and it would be fine....

correct me if i'm wrong...or before i build something stupid...

Looks good. I do concrete as a side job. You may be Ok but, we always tie rebar into the existing slab but don't epoxy for flat work. Durring freeze/thaw conditions you can get lift differentials if they are not tied. I've seen it without too and saw no issue. I consider it insurance.
