New lily pads coming up yellow

I have recently planted lilies and some of the pads are coming up yellow. Could this be because of the-cold nights we had last week (30’s) I am in 7a...or possibly acclimation? I searched the forum but i could only find answers that concerned pads dying off due to old age.

More likely not enough fertilizer. Did you put any pond tabs or spikes in?

No I did not...I have 50 fish so I thought there would be enough nutrients. Will do, thanks

Water lilies feed off the nutrients in their potting medium, rather than from fish waste.

Besides fertilizer you could stick a small wad of steel wool in the pot bottoms as sometimes they may need more iron and it won't hurt the fish. I used to do it all the time.

I add a bit of Muriate of Potash to the water a couple times a year to keep the plants nice and green.
