It is 1,000 gallons imperial the Vortex type filters are 32" the bottom drain has what we call a spindrifter like a huge airstone made out of rubber.
The first filter in line is the votex to empty it and all the other filters there is a network of 2" pipes that come down nto one which then voids of to a house drain and thus into the sewers
To control the water coming from the pond into the vortex is a slide valve.
The criss cross matting is Jap matting and those two filters are supplied with three airstones each the first also has a large bag of zeolite covered in foam sheets, the other a large bag of Lythaqua topped with quilt batting.
Next the bio filter six in the bio filter the medium is K1 filter medium Aqua one bio balls and another type of larger bio balls so can you imagine the shear amout of good helpful bacteria just on those alone not counting the surface area of the Jap matting.
The spindrifter is supplied air by a Airtec 30 watt 40e airpump while another airtec 40e supplies the airstones.
The water comes down through the bio filter then into a 2" Pipe to a pump which is a Oase 3500 inline pump which goes through an Aqua pond 36 watt new generation twin tubed U/V-C and enters the pond 2 foot under water in the ponds side the pond is 7ft wide with a depth of 4ft and a circumference of 21 feet.
It is a former koi business QT facility retro fitted into a pond and could if I wish support a huge aount of koi (I wont)......
Note after the bio filter sprang a leak this ws replaced by a large blue barrel filter.
The filter housing is double glazed and insulated.
We have a small oil heated radiator supplying the heat, this keeps the pond quite warm it is currently 12.7c .
I hope this answers your questions Dr Case ?

Thanx jw as koi ponds go its a pretty basic setup, its only drawback is we had to work with the old footprint which we frankly couldn't make fit into the space we had. So as such its a damn pain to get to the 2" slide valves on each filter to drain them, apart from that everything else works well.
The former input pipe is now a drain leading to the same drain the filters are vioded to.
sissy if its the same as your well filter then others could be able to buy them and use them for the same job we use it for ( it saves a fortune on the Liquid declhorinator) :)
I think the hardest bit was under pinning the concrete path which we found to be only supported by ash and cinders from a fire :(

Addy all the sides are are decking, one plank blank, one plank grooved all the way around it looks good,( even better when the decking paint goes on).
To cover the surrounds at the top of the pond we used the decking groved side up creating a stunning pattern.
The net that used to fit the pond became a problem as it would no longer fit, then Val had a brain wave, wooden cupboard handles to tighten the bungy staps up to , and two cleats for the cross strap holding the net out of the pond
The pond is now finished all that remains is cosmetic and weather permitting we shold have it all finished by late summer.
The last bit to go on is a slate given to us by Vals cousin and her hubby Glenn which reads Dave and Val's pond with a koi carp underneath.
There are also 6 wooden koi to go on the sides of the pond, gravel to be laid and Vals disability garden to be finished.
The QT area was acctually finished before the pond, this too is voided to the drain .
The wooden koi come from this website, Nigel and Maggie do export if you are inteested in buying some check their site out its cool, seeing is believing Maggie brings these koi to life plus any other pet you wish to have done :-

This will give you an idea aout how the wooden koi co's koi can add some beauty to your pond ( most british koi ponds are quite devoid of plants )........but as you can see they also have lilly's painted by Maggie
They are made out of marine ply and they are painted in acrilic making them weather proof

I have never seen a pond made out of a big tank like that .Guessing you had to cut the bottom for your bottom drain or does it come that way .Our filters like that for wells come in 1 ,2 or 3 filter versions and you can buy them anywhere here .Cheap also .I got a whole house filter and used the canister filter we took off with a charcoal filter in it on my hose to go in the pond .We get a lot of iron in our water here .Have to take a pic of it and show you .We get tthem at tractor supply ,home depot and lowes here and also other places too .Real cheap also .Single one is about 10 dollars U.S . filters cost more though

The pond is a pre cast plastic which is welded together.
The bottom was made that way you secure the bottom drain to the pond with poduct called Gold which is a waterproof sillicone sealer( which can be used on butyl liners with the water still in the pond as it is non toxic to fish.
It will affix a patch without having to drain the pond you just make sure the area is scrubbed clean first.
Once the Gold has been ussed to secure the bottom drain stainless steel screws are added to tighen everything up
The dechlorinator unit isn't really any different by the sounds of thing both use charcal cartriges they cost £5.00 each probably if I could see an exchange rate the cost would be the same.I'd like to see a photo of your well filter so we can compare them.
