Temperatures got into the 70's over the weekend in Northern Virginia and the pond is starting to come back to life.
- The 2 painted turtles were out and basking for the first time this year, but no sign of the map turtle so far.
- I was able to count 9 of 12 shubunkin goldfish.
- There's a small school of at least 12 White Cloud Mountain Minnows (glad they were able to with stand the winter and I will be adding to this population)
- I'm checking the skimmer box daily as the animals become more active and have returned several frogs, a few crayfish and one eastern spotted newt to the pond.
I'm still keeping my eyes out for several other species that I tried to overwinter:
- Peppered Corydoras catfish
- Bristlenose Pleco catfish
- Mosquito Fish
- Golden Barbs
