I live in New England and what I do in the winter and it has not killed any of my gold fish yet. Is to run my pump to the water fall until it no longer keeps the water open. When it starts to ice over I put in a trough heater and that keeps a hole in the ice and the water around it unfrozen. i have never checked the water temp but as I said I have never lost a fish over the winter.

I agree with koiguy. Instead of putting a pump through the perils of winter and possibly damaging it, I do exactly what koiguy describes. I just drop my airline in the top 1/4 of the pond and let it bubble to keep an opening and still oxygenagte the water in the upper region.

Your fish will huddle in the lower region where the water is warm. They will be totally fine.
