Yea, we thought about a variable pump at first, but the guy doing our installation said that the valve would give us the same result, and that he rarely sees people use the "variable" part of their pumps.
Thanks for confirming that double is too much, that makes me feel better. I think we might try 1600 GPH next, once this one break if we aren't able to get him to switch the current one out for the price difference.
