Hi,

I have an Aquadyne bead filter (with air pump for stirring) which i have ran for a few years. 2500 gal pond and quite stocked. Worked great for a couple of years, but now the beads are becoming clogged with debris and limits flow. This requires backwashing 2-3 times a week now which is annoying. An Aquaspace pump provides the flow directly to the bead filter presently. The pump (with cage) catches some of the messes. I washed the beads manually yesterday with much improvement in flow., I am now looking about placing some type of prefilter between the pump and bead filter. I saw the AquaSieve2 Pre-filter and thought it may work, but unsure of the pressure drop. Also quite expensive for what it accomplishes. Welcome recommendations and advice for a decent prefilter. Seeking one that is simple to clean, but doesnt lose much flow pressure in the process. Thanks much for your time and reviewing.

I would think a basket strainer from the average external filter. Which can be bought sepperately would be all you need.
But it sounda likebits not a filtering problem it seems to be doing that job well but more a how its cleaned. I use a gc-tek nano bead filter very dmall straw like pieces but by straw i mean mixing drink straws atbthe bar.

The way this is cleaned is like a pool filter turning the hanfle on top but instead of using water to mix the caught debris theres a 2 hp air pump that ahitates yhe media. Now illl do thiz for a couple minutes then backwash it out . Then ill do it again and even though i saw clean wayer the first flush if i do it two more times it then seems truely cleaned.
