Question about pump size

Hello, we had a pond built last year - it's about 2,000 gallons and has 2 small waterfalls and one larger one in the middle. We currently have a 3hp pool pump taking water from the bottom drain and feeding the waterfalls. We like to keep the waterfalls on 24/7, but the electric bill is really high and I want to cut where I can. Attached is an image of the pond and waterfalls. Would you suggest a different pump that could feed the waterfalls, but use less electricity? Thanks

If the waterfalls aren't connected to a filter you can turn them off but if hooked to a filter they would need to be kept on 24/7 or things will go bad inside the filters. I would think a pool pump would clog pretty fast in a pond. How often to you have to clean the pool filter out?

I have a separate filter - the pump is only for the waterfalls and I only get small debris in the pump basket. It's a 3HP pump, which I got a deal on, but I'd rather spend the money on a variable speed pump and save on the electric bill every month.

I don't know anything about variable speed pumps. I just use the Laguna pump brand now as they seem to have the lower power usage.
