If you're talking about cinder blocks, yes, they're safe. They may cause a SMALL temporary increase in ph, but over time, even this goes away.

Those would be pretty rough on the fish if they spawn or in a feeding frenzy.

Those kind have that really rough face on them and I think those are the kind philly was talking about .I saw on the paper they give you to build things with these that they are not recomended for ponds with fish and you should use a liner to protect your fish from them .The paper was near the block at lowes .

yeh there hard on the fingers and arms when your moving them around .If you put on gloves it doesn't help either ,just shreds them after awhile
