My pond is almost dug and is looking good though the sloping site makes it challenging. It somehow ended up being closer to a grapevine than I anticipated (or maybe I just wasn't thinking about roots!) and I'm cutting the roots that I encounter. I'm wondering if they might cause leaks in the future? I could take the grapevine out if necessary but would rather not. I'm using EPDM and geotextile underlay. Would it be wise to put in a second layer of underlay on that side of the pond? Has anyone experienced a problem with roots? Thanks for any thoughts on this.

If you are using at least 6 oz non-woven geotextile a single layer should be sufficient. Of course, you could add a second layer for insurance to ease your mind.
