Good to hear all is going well so far for him and will keep on praying Colleen. Looks like you have a nice covered setup there w/ a view even. You gonna stay outside all night or go home or will they let you stay in the hospital waiting area?

Stink bugs need heat for there bodies and they are headed south for the winter .I use all the organic bug killers and they work better and cost more but at least no toxic fumes around .

This is what we are fighting! they hang out everywhere around the house..............trying to get in. This is one of the less covered areas. You can smell them

They came from japan, no predators here. The smell does not even wash off your fingers, even if you just touch the bug they stink them up.

Guess there are good and bad kinds according to this website video and now that I've seen them super close up I don't believe I've seen them. I have seen something shaped like those but they are green:

We only have few here, Addy, and only on plants, never seen them congregate on a house! Just those Asian beetles, the ones that look like big lady bugs, they used to be really bad here, hundreds of them would get on the south side of a house in the sunshine in fall. It will happen again next month, when the nights get chilly, they will come out in the daytime and sit on usually white houses. I used to live in a log house, never had a problem with them, they usually went for the white or very light colored houses. I now live in a light gray house, and never have them. I'm now surrounded by farmed fields instead of woods, so that may have something to do with it, too. They are all killed by the crop insecticides, maybe. I'm happy about that, though! They are stinky, too, and they bite! Former husband is a builder, would talk about them swarming them while they were building in the fall, bit them on the neck and face and shoulders. And of course the smell if you smooshed one when it bit you. Yuck yuck yuck ...
OK, I have to ask, does anyone know how to get rid of fleas??? I have used Frontline Plus on all my dogs and cats, every month last 3 months, and then used Orvitrol spray on them twice in the last 2 weeks (can only use every 2 weeks) and they are STILL scratching all the time. Drives me up a wall! They are outside dogs, 2 inside cats, can't catch all the outside cats to Frontline them. I assume fleas in the grass, but not going to fumigate my yard, ponds would not be happy! I'm beginning to wonder if the winter last year didn't kill them and then hot and dry summer, and now they are out in full force. I feel so sorry for the dogs and cats. They look miserable.

Ce, I use that yard spray you attach to the hose ( oh poo can't remember the name right off hand starts with an O i believe ) I spray the yard in the day time when it's hot so that it drys faster ( once it's dry, it's safe for pets to walk on it) I just try to keep from getting too close to the pond areas ( you can control the spray pretty easy ) and i don't have any run off into the pond as of yet, now after the stream is put in idk. works great on fleas, ants, flies, even mosquitoes for a bit. I would just work an area at a time, so you can better keep the pets out of that particular area till it dries.

So far they say they are worse this year and they have not come up with anything that will kill them .I must have killed thousands of them outside with the fly swatter and then end up spraying the house down with bleach and water and dish soap and then waiting and hosing it off .They are attracted to there own scent also .So when you squish them the scent attracts more ,so cleaning is important .They like heat and light colors and don't like cold that is why they are headed south .

Fishy, is it something from Ortho? I know there are sprays for the ground, and I may just have to do that. Burn the straw in the barn dog house, wash the beds in the dog pen again, I have a spray for inside the dog pen, but it's expensive and won't do my whole yard. Would do my carpet in the house, but thinking I would do a bomb rather than aerosol in the house.
OK, I have a story for you all!
Tonight, I mowed my yard. I always do the ditch between horse pasture and road first. Neighbors closest to me live across from far end of the horse pasture. They have 3 grandkids, two of whom were outside playing tonight while visiting grandparent's house. Let me start by saying my neighbors are what I would consider white trash. Mother of the babies just had her third child this summer, and I think she MAY be 20! All 3 kids have different daddies, as does their mom and her sister, my neighbor's 2 daughters! OK, on with the story.
So, I'm heading toward their house, mowing in the ditch. The two little boys, I think they are 2.5 and 4, saw me coming and started to head across the road (we have VERY little traffic on our road) with their ride-on toys. Each was carrying his ride on toy, across the ditch, and then they "parked" them on the pasture side of the ditch. They looked at me coming (I was moving slow on purpose) and realized the toys were still in the way, so they moved them ... under the ELECTRIC fence, which is only one line, about 3.5' high! I thought to myself, I sure hoped someone had taught them about the electric fence! About that time, while they were looking my way, the little one reached up with both hands and grabbed the fence! I was still pretty far away, but shut off the mower and ran toward him trying to calm him down and asking him to come to me. He turned right away and headed toward me, still holding his hands. I grabbed him up and held him and told him it was ok. The older one, Mario, was right with him. I squatted down, and we had a talk, and then I told them we needed to see what caused Drake's hurt hands. So, we went back across the shallow ditch and we sat down. I explained about the electric, and that it "hurt" if touched, that's how the horses stayed away from it. Drake agreed that he will NEVER touch it again, and Mario saw how he cried, and he agreed to never touch it either.
When I carried Drake into Grandma's house, they had no idea anything had happened or was wrong. THAT's how they are. They let these little boys play outside on their own, near a sewage ditch that always has water in it, maybe up to 18" deep at times, just figure if they tell them not to go in it, they won't. That ditch also harbors the snappers when they lay eggs, as well as snakes, of which I almost mowed one over couple of weeks ago heading across the road at the EXACT place where Drake grabbed the fence! It was possibly a poisonous snake, I'm not sure, maybe just water snake, but it was not garden nor black snake, which I know are pretty harmless. It was almost 3' long.
Well, I just hope the fact that they got curious, or maybe just forgetful, will teach the mom and grandma that they are BOYS, little boys, and they need to be watched at all times.
I will add that it was oh sooooo nice to have that little guy so happy to be held and snuggled and taken care of. He was so innocent and my heart was torn for him.

And, if that story is not heart warming enough for you, last night on my way home, on the highway there is a guy who has all sorts of animals - mini donkeys and cows, chickens, turkeys, geese, etc. He used to have a bunch of geese, but they kept getting killed on the highway, so he got rid of them. His answer, "I tell people just hit them, no worries", but I told him people react differently and one day someone will swerve to miss a goose, and kill a human! He got rid of the geese. He's a nice man, don't get me wrong, he didn't get rid of them because of what I said, but I may have gotten his attention!
Well, last night, as I was approaching his house, I saw at the last minute one of the young turkeys get run over. As I went by, it was flopping in the middle of the other lane. I could not stand it! I turned around and came back, pulled in the driveway. As I was pulling in, the big tom turkey noticed the bird in the highway and came running full speed! I think he would have run to the injured birds safety, perhaps, and gotten himsel fun over as well. I got out and ran out onto the road and carefully picked up the dying bird. No cars were coming, I was careful. LOL I talked to the bird, told him it was ok, and gently laid him down in the yard, far away from the highway. He laid still shortly thereafter. I'm sure his injuries were beyond help, but I could not watch as car after car drove over him, flopping around in the road.
The turkey was no longer in the yard this morning, so I'm sure the owner disposed of it. Why do people have animals and not take care to keep them safe? I know my dogs run loose, and I'm taking a chance, but I don't live on a highway either. It was awful seeing how the chickens and other birds were frantic worried about the turkey that was hit. My heart bleeds for the innocent .... animals or humans.
