He/she lives in a zone where freezing shouldn't be an issue.

He thanks.

New people don't know what to worry about until they go through a winter, summer spring

Yeah didnt think I had to be overly worried but seen as it's my first year I wanted to make sure I
didn't miss anything.

Easier than just leaving everything where it is? I don't think so. The changing seasons are one of my favorite things about having a pond and gardens. There's something very relaxing about the down time, when the pond is frozen over, the plants have all died back, and the fish and I are all counting the days until spring comes and we can all be reacquainted. There's nothing difficult about getting a pond ready for winter if you have built a pond properly.

I am looking forward to the next part of learning and seeing my pond. Guess you eventually start planning for spring at some point during winter with all the joys that come with it.

@addy1 - you think like I do... I enjoy my winters. That's my planning / dreaming time! I peruse the seed catalogs and re-read all my gardening books and start the spring fresh and ready to go!

And your "zone 100" cracked me up!

If we HAD real winter here I might feel the same way, as one of my dreams has been to live somewhere with 4 distinct seasons. We don't, so winters here are just a dreary, cooler, yucky time of year. Sigh.... That's one of the reasons I LOVE and anticipate our yearly ski trips! I do like snow, so that's my only chance to play and enjoy it!

This is a picture of ME this past March in Steamboat Springs, CO :) :) :)
