Reasonable price, but this type of filter provides more mechanical than biological filtration. It is primarily there to protect the pump. The type that Maria pictured is somewhat better in that bio-media can be added to the filter housing to augment bio-filtration.
Anyway, bottom line is you are relying on the biofilm established on all submerged surfaces to provide biofiltration. This may be sufficient if you maintain your fish load at low levels.
