I found two black ones in my old filter set up in August. Saved 'em and threw them back into the breach.
All of mine have turned orange by the time fall-winter rolls in. I'd love to have some black comets. I get a new brood 2x a year with 2-3 survivors in my (currently) small puddle. All my newbs survived our soft MD winter so now I'm up to 13 and expanding lol.
