I just got some rosy red minnows (actually light orange) to help cycle my pond and I love watching them. They are very fast, tiny and very curious. With them staying tiny and not needing a huge filter system it is perfect for you. Plus they only cost .15 at Petsmart and you will be saving their lives cause they are sold as feeder fish.

Lol. That's funny right there. Luckily I live in an area with many rocks just laying around everywhere and no rules against grabbing a "reasonable amount". I would not have been able to do it if totally dependant on the local Home Depot or other suppliers.

I force myself into a different mental state now while working on the pond or garden. It's quite enjoyable if you can reach that level of "zen". Nice weather helps too, which I don't get much of. But, it makes that cold beer all the better.
Tell me about the working in nice weather part!!! Every time I have a couple of consecutive days to work hard it turns out being 90% humidity!! I do what I can and almost done!!!! I just hope I don't twitch from the memories of hard labor, temper tantrums and spending 2 hours on doing a 15 minute job!!!

There are times when I'm sitting by the pond that I think "building this thing was a sh*t ton of work! I would NEVER do this again!" But then a little voice inside my head whispers "who are you trying to kid?" Our three sons helped with the heavy lifting and digging - thankfully they all still speak to me...although the youngest occasionally shows signs of PTSD when he gets too close to the waterfall.

I think it's like childbirth amnesia..... Time (and joy  ) can make you forget the bad parts :wacky:.

Laughing, when I moved from Arizona, after building and leaving a 14000 gallon pond, 45 foot stream, waterfall, I had no intention of building another one here. Then my dear sweet honey bought me a tractor, what else do you do but build a pond (s).

@addy1 I was going to go with bury the body but that's probably why I don't own a tractor. :D
And @Mmathis I always use Amaretto or wine when I cook..... I sometimes even put it in the food.
@RobAmy that's just mean, and I totally admire you for it.
@Lisaebetten even the tiny fish are suspect. It's always the shy quiet ones you have to watch out for. Next thing I know they'll be planning a cat assassination or causing a toad revolution.

For the record if I ever put fish in I'm never telling you guys... Heeheeeee

Just to be fair. I got an email from a friend. The title "Hard Rock Porn". Of course I opened it, she's a wack-a-doodle but not a sick twisty one. So I opened it and there were about 15 of these pictures. She really knows how to get me all worked up.. LOL Guess where I'm going Saturday???
