Building a fish cave

Hi I am in the process of building a 19x16x3’ pond for our fish. We want to put in a fish cave under the waterfall and wanted some feedback

Wanted to know if it is ok to put one fish cave under the waterfall we are building

I think it would be just fine! My fish cave is under my waterfall and the fish enjoy it!

My fish won't go under my waterfalls...the force of the fall pushes them back...I guess it would depend on the force of your falls...My fish love their cave but it is in a quieter spot...

Rubyduby - you are absolutely right! I should have thought of that! My waterfall comes down forcefully into a little pooling area, then exits out at the surface of the water where it makes a fast moving chute/current. The fish love that area. But yes - a really forceful waterfall directly on top wouldn't be good.

We have fish caves under the steps to get into the pond… it’s adjacent to a gradual stream type of waterfall but not directly under it. Easing the force of the waterfall with a more gradual progression rather than a straight drop and or moving the cave to an area a bit more removed from the direct hit of the waterfall can help.
