It is a hawk, I think a young one. Smaller than the ones that hang around our woods. It has come by about 4 times today, no luck in getting a meal, those little birds are fast. It went after one small bird in our apple tree, that little bird took off the hawk following it, the little bird twisted turned flew fast and got away, peeping a warning all of the time.
