Feeding koi and goldfish

Two weeks ago someone gave me some big koi. She told me what she fed them and I got some, but the koi now totally ignore it. My small goldfish like it, although they'll seem to spit it back out as soon as they eat it. My ponds (two, with a waterfall at the head and a spillway between the two) have quite a bit of plant material, while hers had none. Are the koi now eating plants and insects, and are too full to care about the fish food?

Could be they are still skittish about their new home. Maybe just put in a few pellets and let them get used to you. Wait a few days and do it again. They will eat when they feel like it.
