I discovered that I may have introduced fingernail clams (Sphaerium corneum) to my newly set up water garden/very small pond (300 gal stock tank as main plus two header/bog filter pools feeding into it), as well as pond snails, from aquatic plants that I purchased at a local pond store. Unfortunately the clams were not found until I went to wash out the tub that the plants had been in for a couple weeks prior to transferring to the water garden. Fortunately these little guys do not have a larval stage so they won't hassle my fish, they are born as mini adults. So I was kind of thinking probably neutral to potentially helpful additions to the pond but wanted to hear if anyone else had any good or bad experiences with them. I also found two pond snails in the plants, and when I called the store to ask them about the species of these critters, they didn't know anything about them (they knew they had them but hadn't even bothered to investigate the species) but warned me they are struggling with an apple snail infestation. So, my confidence in this store has also dropped a bit...
