Kind of off topic but I was thinking about using some drift wood to hide my secondary pump/ pump lines in the bottom of my pond. Was wondering what the wood would do to the pond water and how long before it decayed? I live near lake Ontario and was thinking about checking some of the coast line for drift wood.

I'd go for it! Have used driftwood in aquaria before with no problems, usually cedar. We were walking along a river flowing through a nearby town a few days ago, and as usual I was on the lookout for interesting wood. Saw a beautiful piece of gnarly roots, maybe 5 or 6 feet long, well-weathered, lying beside the river, but down a straight cliff maybe 15' high, with no way to get to it. Have to make a grappling-hook, with 25' of nylon rope, and one evening I'll go back! What's an hour's drive for a nice piece of driftwood!! :sneaky:
