hey all, I would like to put a cast iron statue face in my pond. I though i would look cool to look in and see Poseidon starring back at you. question is, could this be harmful to my fish ? it's roughly 7k gallons. thanks

I think it would leach out iron over time but im not positive. I know cooking with cast iron has that effect with food. There maybe something to do with the heat there. Not sure if the iron would effect the fish. It would be cool though.

could you paint the part under water, like with the boat bottom paint, or rustoleum, or something of that sort? even pond wall coating? Even roof coating, like the black roofing sealant. pl stuff

That would cut down any leaching of the iron.

I have a lot of friends that have powder coated the underside suspension parts in their cars. It really looks great!

My other hubby did a lot of powder coating, had the oven and all. Works great.
